About me:
RHONDA WEATHERBY - Owner, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Teacher & Health Coach
Hi I'm Rhonda, I am also known by my spiritual name Darshan Kaur, I am the person behind The Living Practice, my aim is to support individuals and groups of people in making nutrition and lifestyle changes to improve their health through Health Coaching and Yoga tuition.
Holistic Health Coaching - Your Guide on the Side
Through one-on-one sessions over either a 3 or 6 month program specifically catered to your needs, we work together on setting healthy goals to better your eating habits & lifestyle. I guide you towards healthier choices but you lead the sessions, I offer a non judgemental compassionate space to move through any blocks, and together we will work on bringing new practices into your life that serve your health and sense of wellbeing.
We look at your Primary Foods - your career, relationships, activities and spiritual practice and what is of value to you, helping you find meaning and increased energy into your life. I love helping others to discover their true wholesome Self's. I am qualified to practice Health Coaching by The Institute of Integrative Nutrition, in New York.
Yoga Teaching - Public, Private and Group
I am a
Hatha Yoga Teacher
Yin Yoga Teacher
Kundalini Yoga Teacher & I also specialise in supporting people with Trauma &/or PTSD through Kundalini Yoga and Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F)
I am qualified to teach Yoga by Yoga Australia, KYTANZ and Yoga Alliance and I have my own insurance.
With over 20 years of personal yoga practice and the past 11 years teaching, I have accrued over 1000 hours of teaching and am now accredited as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500). I offer Yoga for the beginners mind. Concentrating on creating a grounded and welcoming space, where the beginner feels comfortable to explore yoga gradually and advanced students can deepen their foundations. My teaching style is Yininspired with attention to stretching, dissolving physical tensions and quietening the mind. I also teach pranayama (breathing techniques), along with meditation and mantra, for a true yoga experience.
I see Yoga as a medicinal and therapeutic living practice. A living breathing philosophy and practice to bring into our everyday lives. To bring us back to our true selves. I believe we are all capable of coming to that state of Yoga, experiencing stillness & connection with our true spirit and the universe within and out through mindfulness, a sense of being that is pure, peaceful and true to our hearts and spirits.
I aim to guide others towards connecting with the spirit and stillness within through practices of mindfulness, meditation and breathing techniques in combination with postures, bandha's (body locks), mantra, mudra's (hand gestures) and dristi's (eye focus) and a new different view of how to live. Bringing a sense of warmth, humour and heart to my classes, I revel in inspiring others towards simplicity in their practices.
In 2011, I started my own Yoga studio in a park pavilion in Royal Park, Parkville Melbourne, The Living Practice Yoga Studio, at Ross Straw pavilion & Field, offering individual and group Yoga tuition.
I have a big dream to build a modern day ashram to share with others in Natural surrounds, offering Yoga amongst nature, Food from the Earth, Integrative therapies, accommodation and a community space to relax, share, learn and play.

Testimonials
"Before starting classes with Rhonda, I had tried yoga for years, never really developing regular habits around it or really ever feeling like I knew what I was doing. My partner and I have had regular private classes with Rhonda for about 4 months and eventually decided to undertake a 3 week ‘intensive’ of classes every day. This experience has changed the way I think about and practice yoga. After a week of classes I began to realize that my body was changing – I am now much more mindful of the way I sit, stand and move around in the world. For the first time I feel confident both mentally and physically to practice yoga alone, Rhonda has really helped with this and has even written a practice guide for me that I have used. More than all of this, though, Rhonda is an excellent educator. She is patient, giving and is able to come at yoga with good humour as well as expertise. I would highly recommend her to anyone thinking about beginning their yoga journey, as well as to those at a more advanced stage."
